Tato norma je českou verzí evropské normy EN ISO 4157-1:1998. Evropská norma EN ISO 4157-1:1998 má status české technické normy. Oznámení o schválení: Text mezinárodní normy ISO 4157-1:1998 byl schválen CEN jako evropská norma bez jakýchkoliv modifikací. Norma se skládá z následujících částí: Část 1: Budovy a jejich části, Část 2: Názvy a čísla místností a Část 3: Evidenční čísla prostorů. Tato první část (ČSN EN) ISO 4157 stanovuje požadavky na systém a pravidla označování budov, jejich prostorových částí, stavebních dílů a prvků. Tato stručná norma obsahuje uvádí tyto kapitoly: kapitolu 1 - Předmět normy, kapitolu 2 - Normativní odkazy, kapitolu 3 - Definice, kapitolu 4 - Označení druhu, kapitolu 5 - Individuální označení, kapitolu 6 - Pravidla pro označování a kapitolu 7 - Způsob označování. Dále norma obsahuje normativní Přílohu ZA. ČSN EN 4157-1 (01 3420) byla vydána v lednu 2000. Nahradila články 80 až 86 ČSN 01 3420 ze 17.1.1985
